How did MAMA start.
In 2005 three female business owners came together to start a group of businesses on Madison working together to help each other and bring more business to Madison Avenue. Justine Cooper with Scents and Accents, Kahty Curran with Goddess Blessed, and Jill Crino of Bela Duby came together to change Madison Avenue. Other businesses joined in for fun events including the twelve shops of Christmas which brought new customers in to check out the twelve businesses involved and take a chance on free raffles. Mama temporarily went on hiatus when Scents and Accents closed, but this past year has been fired back up with the help of the same core group and the backing of the Lakewood Observer. A board has been established and Mama has grown with each meeting, solidfying a team of dedicated business owners willing to reach out to the community while networking with each other and ultimately bringing more business to all of Madison! We have had a successful Summer Walk in June and an even more successful Art Walk in October and are ready to continue growing in numbers and force to make Madison Avenue the thriving artsy energized area we know it is!
